You are a woman so you are entitled to the fussy and complication of the skin care treatment. Most women around the world are always coming up with the best solutions or methods for the skin care treatment. However, not all of the claims are proven true.
Some Popular Misconceptions in Skin Care Treatment
Some of the fallacies or misconceptions have even happened for generations, passed on from one to another. It’s time to learn the truth if you only want to get the best in your skin care treatment. So, what are they?
Super Clean Skin Is Always the Best
If you think that super squeaky-clean skin is the best, you may want to have a change of heart. Most people think that the cleaner their skin is, the better it will be. Well, it’s not always true, unfortunately. According to some dermatologists, the super clean face is, in fact, prone to problems. You see, when people think that they need to have the super clean face, they tend to do excessive facial washing and cleaning which end up stripping the face from the natural oil. The natural oil is there for a reason, to protect the skin. When the skin barrier is gone, who can protect the skin, anyway? What can prevent the skin from dehydration and irritation?
Be careful if you feel that your skin is taut and tight as it can be the result of dry skin. You don’t want the too dry skin as well as too oily skin – you need to balance it out. Be careful of products containing ALS (Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate), SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate), and SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) which can make your skin dry and remove the natural oil from the skin. You can choose a gentler and more natural products, such as coconut-based oil or glucose-based products. Consider products containing coco glucoside, sucrose laurate, coco betaine, decyl glucoside, and Cocamidopropyl betaine. If you are going to bed, refresh your skin with cold water splash. It should be enough.
Junk Food Is Responsible for Acne Breakouts
You enjoy your cheeseburger so much or a bar of dark chocolate in the evening, but you are afraid that they are going to cause breakouts or fill your face with cysts. In reality, there hasn’t been any proof suggesting that junk food is responsible for acne breakouts. A lot of dermatologists agree on this, including David Bank from New York. However, there is probably the connection between the breakouts and high-glycemic foods (which are the refined carbs in the junk food production). You see, inflammation will make acne issue worse. And inflammation can be caused by the high-glycemic foods because they will naturally increase the insulin and blood sugar level.
It doesn’t mean that you completely free from consuming the junk food, though. After all, these types of foods are bad for your health as well as your waist. But if you do want to consume your favorite French fries or chicken burger once in a while, the key is about limit and moderation. You are a human being so it is only normal if you have a junk food craving once in a while. Don’t hold it because it will lead to a bigger craving desire that will be difficult to handle. Sometimes it’s okay to give up to the temptation but then again, the key is the limit. As long as you don’t eat the junk food every day or you can limit the portion, you don’t have to worry about the breakout.
You can also consider healthier options which can be tasty and fulfilling too. For your daily consumption, you can choose foods or beverages with natural anti-inflammatory traits. Foods like broccoli, fish, or green tea can reduce the possibility of acne breakouts up to 32% even when you consume it only once a week.
Higher SPF Allow You to Stay Longer under the Sun
This is just a ridiculous claim. If you think that you are completely immune from the sunray because you have applied the higher SPF products then you need to upgrade your knowledge, seriously. The SPF won’t make you completely untouched and immune to the sun ray; it shows the quality of the protection and how well it can shield you. For the best benefit is to reapply the product once every two hours. Or if you have to do your activities under the sun, make sure that you are protected by a shelter.
You may want to consider a product with broad spectrum SPF 30, meaning that the product can protect you from the UVA and UVB. Why the SPF 30 and not lower? You see, when you choose the SPF 15, it only gives 93% protection from the UVB rays. If you choose the SPF 30, it will protect 97% of yourself. A half teaspoon of the product is good for the face while the size of a shot-glass product will cover your entire body. Don’t like the grease? There are a lot of products out there that are completely good and oily free. You don’t have to feel like a walking oil rig once you have applied the products.
Botox Is Good for Wrinkle-Free Result
Well, it may be true for a short while, especially after the Botox shot is administered but it definitely won’t hold up for a longer period of time. Botox is administered by filling the empty spots and creases inside the skin but if you continue pressing your muscles to contract or you have done the poor facial treatment, your fine lines will keep coming back – no matter how hard you try to remove them.
It is better (and more inexpensive) if you can relax and you stop abusing your facial muscles. You can also implement healthier skin care treatment, like proper care, apply the sunscreen, or others to keep the lines at bay. If you can do these things naturally, you won’t have to hurt your financial condition by having the expensive skin care treatment. After all, not everyone likes the idea of having to deal with the needle.
