Do you know that you can look different just by applying some eyeshadow with the right techniques?
I wasn’t very skilled in makeup because I thought there was only one way to apply eyeshadows and it was a tedious job. I didn’t think it would need some technique to get it right, just some simple brushes with matching color. Didn’t know that not applying eyeshadow in the right manner can create a disproportionate look to our eyes.
I had a friend who took makeup classes and she told me some “eyeshadow secrets” that I didn’t know existing. It’s amazing how much applying eyeshadows can actually change the way we look. The key is to apply the shading based on the shapes of the eyes. Just like our faces and noses, eyes also come with different shapes. Therefore, it is important to know how to put eyeshadows that will accentuate the beauty of different shapes of eyes.
Downturned eyes
If your eyes are downturned that makes them look like they are eternally sad, it is necessary to wear eyeshadows as it will help you to emphasize the beauty of your eyes.
There are different methods to put our makeup on during the day and the night. During the day, we can put light color around the eyelids. It is recommended to apply the eyeshadow around all the eyelids area thoroughly. It is important to make our eyes look lifted and firm. To attain this, apply some dark color from the middle of the eyelids to the outer side of the corner of our eyes. Then, add some matte eyeshadow with a slightly darker color around the eye’s corner area.
For evening makeup, we can use light-colored shimmery eyeshadow at half of the eyes area. Then, add some darker color at the outer half of the corner of our eyes. To obtain a firm look, add some dark color that stops right at the outer corner of our eyelashes.
Monolid eyes
People with monolid eyes don’t have a crease on their eyelids. Many East Asians are blessed with this shape of eyes. Putting eyeshadow on this eyes can be a bit tricky, however.
During the day, we can use light-colored eyeshadow around all area. Our job is to create the illusion as if our eyes have a crease. To obtain this, apply some shading with the shape of a line. We can put the line across the middle part of the eyelids. We can finish it with dark eyeshadow or eyeliner that falls at the outer part of our eyes’ corner.
During the evening, we can put on some light color until the bottom part of our eyebrows. To maximize the impression that there is a form of a crease, add some darker eyeshadow add shading in the eye folds. Use black eyeshadow to create a frame around our eyes before using the eyeliner. Mix it well.
Hooded eyes
To be able to maintain a great look with these eyes, we need to make our hooded eyes look smoother. We have to avoid shimmery eyeshadow and pick the matte one. This will prevent our eyes from appearing swollen. We can apply the matte eyeshadow around the eyelid area and combine it with a darker shade to create an impression that our eyes are wide open. To make it look natural, put some eyeshadow along the outer part of the corner area of the eyelid and combine it well.
For an evening night out, we can try to create a dramatic look with our eyeshadow work. Apply some highlight along the temple near the eyes and in the inner corner of the eyeliners. The whole eyelids should be covered in dark coloring by our eyeshadow. Put it a bit higher and mix it well to look natural.
Round eyes
Round eyes are probably the one type of eye shapes which are considered beautiful by many. There are many references to round eyes in pop culture. Round eyes symbolize innocence, hope, and eagerness. That being said, it doesn’t mean that having round eyes make us able to put our eyeshadow as messy as how we want it to be. There are still rules to look stunning.
For a starter, we should apply light-colored eyeshadow only on the upper part of the eyelid. After we are sure that it is applied evenly, we can then add some darker coloring. It should be applied circling our eyes around because the purpose is to create such a frame. When it is done, the last step is to apply darker color shading with the same technique. If you prefer a natural look, combining it with a grey-colored eyeshadow is a good idea. It will reduce the dramatic effect of the eyeshadow work.
A night makeup for women with round eyes is fairly simple. There is no need to complicate ourselves. The steps are literally the same with the steps for a day makeup. However, to make it more perfect, we should add some black eyeliner pencil to create frames around our eyes. Apply this with a special small brush. To finalize the look, we should use some liquid eyeliner. These steps will make our round eyes look more dramatic.
Upturned eyes
The last makeup tips are for women with upturned eyes. Women with upturned eyes can look fierce. The challenge is to pay attention to how we apply the eyeshadow so that the eyes don’t seem very sharp or fierce. For that reason, on all the area of the eyelids, we should use a darker color. The darkest color should be on the upper half of the eyes.
During the night, we have to do the similar steps, but with sharper technique with hands or brushes. We can also make our eyes look more defined like cats’ eyes by applying dark-colored eyeshadow in ¼ part of the outermost corner of the eyes. This will instantly create an exotic look.
Those are some useful tips to create stunning looks by applying eyeshadows in the right way based on the shape of our eyes. Always remember to buy quality products.
