Identify the different types of acne that exist and you may have, can be helpful in treating acne significantly. Many people do not get the results they are waiting for. One of the key reasons is mainly due to not using the right treatment for acne types out there.
Many of these people tend to follow the most popular or fashion acne treatment, probably without even knowing why. There are different types of treatments or how many types of acne there. Unfortunately, the different types of treatments and remedies do not work properly for each of the different types of acne. A treatment that works well for a type of acne cannot produce the same effects for other types of acne.
Types of Acne in Young Adults
We all tend to think that only the grains that appear on the face is acne. If you do not know, your acne problem is not only limited to having pimples. If you suffer from a mild form of acne, you may not be aware of other types of acne. You may notice some developing rashes on the back or neck, due to the different types of acne that exist.
Although all types of acne start the same way, taking too much fat or sebum in the skin. Therefore, it reproduces bacteria that block pores, appearing as bumps. Different types of acne vary in severity and appearance. Acne can be divided into three groups: acne vulgaris, acne rosacea, and different types of severe acne.
Acne Vulgaris
The most common type of acne is Acne Vulgaris and is subdivided into mild and severe category. Thus, the first classification of acne vulgaris are whiteheads.
Whiteheads
Nobody on television or in the movies ever seem to have acne. The fact is that everyone has acne and whiteheads are one of the most common types. Unfortunately, this is part of normal reaction of your skin. That does not mean you have to live with it lifetime. Knowledge is power, and understand what whiteheads are and are not, will make its elimination faster and easier.
Whiteheads appear as small, whitish bumps on the skin, but what causes them? When oil or sebum (a natural oil) accumulate in the pores of your skin, white spots appear. This relates to the follicles of the skin. The reason why they become white spots is because the obstructed areas are not exposed to air. In the case of blackheads, the air causes oxidation and oxidation darkens the tips of the clogged areas.
These are formed due to the mixture of bacteria, too sebum (oil) and dead cells. This acne does not become brown, mainly because they are not very exposed and are confined to the capillary pores, which means they cannot oxygenate. However, a lump don’t become yellowish sometimes. The whiteheads seen on the skin can also occur due to frequent cellular exfoliation that can block the pores of the hair.
Another classification of acne vulgaris are blackheads, which are the mixture of dead cells, bacteria and sebum (or oil).
Blackheads
Blackheads are a common result of a natural processes of the skin. Of course, that does not mean they have to like it. Understanding what it is, is the key for removal.
A blackhead is created when a skin follicle becomes clogged and pushes through the surface. They usually are caused when the skin produces too much sebum (oil). This oil, when exposed to air, it turns black and sometimes yellow due to an accumulation of melanin (the dark pigment of the skin). Therefore, blackheads are not caused by dirt as many people think.
If you have gone or are going through puberty, you are the perfect candidate for pimples. That’s because during puberty, the body produces a significant increase in hormones, and these hormones in turn stimulate the oil glands that usually skin. This is 100% normal and means that your body is doing what it needs to do.
Why does blackheads appear?
There are other reasons why blackheads may appear. If your skin is not properly cleaned, dead skin cells accumulate in the pores, the pores become clogged, and the oil accumulates. The use of oil-based cosmetics or moisturizers can also stimulate the development of pimples, so talk to your doctor about cosmetics that work best for your skin. Similarly, pollution, moisture and fat in your environment (for example, if you work in a kitchen near a fryer) can also cause acne outbreaks).
One more thing to consider is that many people wonder why appear blackheads, although they clean the affected areas. The reality is that the skin is by nature oily. Excessive washing and / or other skin irritations make produce more oil to compensate. Therefore, appear even more blackheads. So clean skin thoroughly but gently.
The difference between them and whiteheads is only moderately blocked in the follicle. Because of this, the black spots are exposed to oxygen and as a result become dark spots. Blackheads take longer to be eliminated compared with whites.
Papules
Other types of acne vulgaris are papules and pustules. Papules are recognized as small bumps that are usually inflamed. Papules are small, firm, cone-shaped, and pink protuberances. It is basically a fancy name for inflammation of a white dot. They are sensitive to the touch unlike other forms of acne and do not contain pus. Because they contain pus, you should not try to squeeze them out the pus. If you do, you could seriously irritate the skin and aggravate existing acne (and possibly end up with a permanent scar), plus you do not end up with the papule.
Pustules
Like papules, pustules are small round lesions. You will notice that are red with yellow centers or whitish (caused by visible pus). While inflamed pustules are usually painless and do not contain a lot of bacteria. Inflammation is actually the result of chemical irritation of free fatty acids, which are substances that circulate in the bloodstream and are common in the skin around the world, although there may be other causes.
What you should NEVER do
- Although it may be tempting to squeeze a pimple, do not. You could end up with a permanent scar. If you have one that is particularly troublesome, consult your dermatologist to remove it properly.
- Never try to prick or squeeze them because it can result in ugly scars. Meanwhile, the pustules are large bumps, skin infections containing pus. You should never prick these bumps either, as they can cause severe acne scars.
Nodules and cysts
Other serious types of acne vulgaris include cysts and nodules, which are larger than the different types of acne mentioned above and are very painful. Nodules are large bumps located below the skin surface, while the cysts are pus-filled bumps with an average size of 5 mm. Cases of cysts and nodules should be treated by a medical specialist, a dermatologist, to prevent bad scarring and increased acne lesions.
Nodular acne appears in large areas of the skin and usually very painful. What is the root of the appearance of nodules? Nodules are inflammations, deep skin lesions. Cysts, although similar, are softer, filled with pus and are also deep in the skin. Your immune system responds to this attack by producing pus.
Unlike other forms of acne, nodules may persist for weeks or even months. Cystic acne is the most severe type of acne on the skin. Nodules not always become cysts. Both cysts and nodules, while similar, may exist independently.
Like most acne outbreaks nodules and cysts can affect anyone, but is most common in adolescent boys and young men. Unfortunately, this type of acne often has genetic causes, if one or both of their parents has had outbreaks, there is a great likelihood that children will also have it.
